Explore the intricacies of photographing political and social issues with David Butow, and learn why he chooses to use his Leica M film and digital cameras on assignment. As an expert in the field for over 3 decades, David will draw from experience and offer insight on how to make photos that tell powerful and emotional stories. He will present and discuss images from a diverse set of assignments, from the White House to conflict and disaster zones in the Middle East and Asia.


David Butow has photographed for magazines and books in dozens of countries and his pictures have appeared in National Geographic, TIME,and many other publications. He has won awards from World Press Photo, Photo District News, POYi, and others. For the last three years he has focused on political events in Washington D.C.
