Build a photo-worthy place setting from the ground up with the guidance of tabletop and prop stylist Robin Zachary, and photographer and food stylist Kate Lewis, against the added bonus of a West Elm backdrop. Shooting on location at the beloved houseware store’s DUMBO location, students will have the opportunity to stage small scenes and tablescapes while learning simple lighting and styling techniques.
This is a BYOC (bring-your-own-camera) workshop that will meet for an introduction and slideshow session in the Photoville Workshop Area before heading out for a live, guided shooting session at West Elm in DUMBO. The workshop also includes an optional wrap-up session and casual group critique, where students can share work and ideas, and get feedback from instructors and workshop peers.
Robin Zachary is a New York City-based tabletop and prop stylist and a faculty member of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. She is the contributing home editor of Bridal Guide Magazine and her other clients span famous home product brands, national magazines, e-commerce and social media outlets. She loves designing creatively inspired tables and selecting just the right dishes, glassware, linens and props to tell a great story, rich with history and personality.
Her passion for the art of prop styling and teaching it to others has led her to create The Prop Styling Experience, a 1:1 intensive styling workshop in New York City, that she wished she had the opportunity to attend when she was starting out in the styling business.
Kate Lewis is a photographer, chef and food stylist contributing to cookbooks, magazines, social media and video for more than decade. As a champion of all things health and vegetable related, Kate relishes being able to combine her aforementioned careers into a new lifestyle brand, The Village Farmacy, coming soon in the fall of 2018.
