Verónica Sanchis was born and raised in Caracas, studied photography in the UK, became a mother in Hong Kong, and now lives in New York City!
In 2015, she founded Foto Féminas, an influential online platform dedicated to promoting the work of Latin American and Caribbean women photographers. Through this initiative, she has curated exhibitions in Argentina, China, Guatemala, Peru, Chile, and Mexico. A year later, she expanded the project by launching the Foto Féminas Library—a traveling archive that celebrates and preserves the work of female and non-binary photographers from the region. The library has been exhibited in cultural institutions and festivals across Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, New York, and Miami.
Since 2022, Veronica has also worked as a freelance photo editor, continuing to explore the many ways photography can connect, empower, and tell vital stories.
Collective Energy: A Virtual Gathering is a virtual assembly of artists and intellectuals moderated by Adama Delphine Fawundu and Laylah Amatullah Barrayn. We will be discussing the global impact and need for photography collectives when it comes to women photographers.
