Hedy van Erp (The Hague, 1966) is a photo historian, author, and curator of photography. She has worked on exhibitions by, among others, Rineke Dijkstra and Viviane Sassen, and has curated shows for the Netherlands Photo Museum (Rotterdam), Fotomuseum The Hague, the British National Media Museum, the Science Museum (London), the Hermitage Amsterdam, the Bristol Photo Festival, and the Alice Austen House Museum (NY).
Commissioned by Tate, Van Erp wrote Photography Decoded (Tate Publishing, 2019) with co‑author Susan Bright. She was guest editor of the New York photo‑zine Dog Food #11 (2023) and is co‑editor of its successor, Fotozini.
Supported by the Mondrian Fund, she investigated Dutch photo archives in private collections, including the Remsen Wolff Collection.
Remsen Wolff (1940-1998) was a New York artist and poet who created the “Special Girls – A Celebration” series in the 1990s, featuring portraits of individuals challenging gender from Amsterdam and New York.
