Since the inception of photography, darkrooms have been essential to the creative and commercial aspects of the medium, from film development to print creation. Today there is a resurgence in film photography, drawing both seasoned photographers and a new generation of enthusiasts to the charms of analog photography and printing. Experience firsthand how a darkroom works and discover the fascinating hybrid workflows that blend analog craftsmanship with digital technologies – making the darkroom not just a historical curiosity, but a vital, relevant space for contemporary image-makers.

Presenter Bios

Eric Luden

Founder and CEO of Digital Silver Imaging, Eric brings extensive industry experience from his previous role as VP of Marketing at Ilford Photo. His career spans from photo retail management to board service with the Griffin Museum of Photography and the Social Documentary Network, establishing him as a respected innovator in photography production. Eric is a recognized innovator in fine art photography production.
J. Sybylla Smith

J.Sybylla Smith is an independent curator and creator of the globally recognized Concept Aware®: How You See & Why It Matters podcast, reaching 20,000 listeners across 79 countries. Sybylla’s creative framework helps visual artists transform abstract ideas into tangible works across multiple formats. With a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices, she has curated over 30 exhibitions featuring 115+ international photographers. Her forthcoming book shares her innovative approach to visual storytelling.
Andrea Zocchi

Co-owner and partner at Digital Silver Imaging and head of Marketing and Promotions. He is a former art director at F+W Media and CEO of his own publishing company. Andrea has an extensive background in photography having directed and taught photo workshops in Italy for Massachusetts College of Art, SUNY Alfred, and the University of Colorado Denver.
