Cut the Crap – A Brief History of Editing

This video seminar examines the process of editing film and video, and how that process has evolved over time. From early editing experiments at the dawn of moving pictures, to the frantic pace of the music video generation, we’ll be discussing some of the more unique advancements in the art of editing, as well as tips to tightening up your own work.

Editing is a process used in virtually all creative endeavors. Choosing what to keep and what to leave out is a critical step in the journey to create your best work. Filmmakers, and more recently television producers, have long understood the importance of editing, and that process has yielded many innovative ideas and techniques, constantly breathing new life into the medium.
