Exposure Basics

Are your images washed out? too dark, Blurry? This seminar will cover the principles of light and exposure and how they react with your camera. We’ll cover shooting modes such as program, aperture and shutter priority, and manual mode, as well as different metering techniques and when to use them.

Instructor Ben Russell’s professional career started with an internship at an advertising photographer’s studio in his senior year of high school and summers working for a Life magazine staff photographer. Following several years assisting numerous NYC photographers and two years as first assistant to Burt Glinn, a member of the Magnum agency, he struck out on his own.

  • Ben Russell

    After over 30 years as a freelance commercial photographer working for corporate, editorial, and nonprofit clients, Ben Russell started a second career as a high school art teacher. He teaches visual art, black and white film photography, and digital photography at the High School of Fashion Industries in New York City. Russell also teaches at the International Center of Photography and the Fashion Institute of Technology. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
