Where there are battles to be won, there are Marines winning them. There are also Marines who produce stunning photography that reveals the willingness and determination necessary to win those battles. Marine photojournalists tell the Marine Corps story to the American public, reporting from a frozen reservoir in Korea, in sweltering jungles in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, Afghanistan and anywhere that battles must be won. Marine photojournalists are, first and foremost, Marines. Like all Marines, they enter the Marine Corps through a rite of passage known as recruit training, or “boot camp.” After claiming the title of ‘Marine,’ they attend Marine Combat Training because every Marine is a rifleman, capable of going into combat at any time. These images are not just the best of Marine Corps photojournalists, it’s the best of Marines, winning the battles they face within and face down with an uncompromising, uncommon fighting spirit.
