Piyatat Primtongtrakul
The pandemic was a challenge in my line of work. But at the face of such a hurdle, I was given the chance to travel and get to know more about my country, Thailand. With each journey, I learned that there is so much more meaning to simply taking photos of beautiful landscapes — that each place tells its own unique story. I grew to appreciate the art of handicrafts. I realized my photographs can become a bridge — introducing these untold stories from talented local artists in Thailand to the world.
Behind the Art spotlights many unrevealed artists who continue on, creating their own pieces while pursuing their purpose every day. This series is a photo essay of local craft artists based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Each one of them lives in a different village. Each one of them has their own talents and backgrounds. Their hands and surroundings tell the stories of their work and walks of life, and how it takes unequaled dedication to reach what they have achieved.
