Capturing Beauty is a project that aims to empower and build community through the art of portraiture. At a time when social media often dictates how we see ourselves filtered through screens, many students feel reluctant to be photographed, though they often can’t articulate why. Through this work, my students are learning to view themselves and their peers with deeper appreciation and understanding, using photography as self-expression and connection. The project consists of capturing the beauty of the A-Tech community through different color gels which enhance the subject’s essence, or aura. The ultimate goal of this project is to boost confidence in order to encourage community in our school.
