“When I think of Poland, where I come from, I think of the taste of the first strawberries in the summer — sweet, juicy and full of flavour.

I think of my parent’s lush garden. It’s full of fresh, seasonal produce, and abundant berry bushes.

I think of an old and generous apple tree and the smell of my mum’s freshly baked ‘Jablecznik’.

I think of the beautiful forests and the foraging trips with my dad.

I think of the homemade pierogi, the taste of which always makes me feel like home.

Every time I feel homesick I will cook or bake from one of my mum’s recipes. It transports me back in time, brings back sweet childhood memories, and always comforts my soul.”

    Bea Lubas

Bea Lubas is a Polish-born, England-based award winning food photographer. As she felt that there was something missing in her life, at the age of 20, Bea gave up her job at a local bakery, bought a one way ticket to England and set off for the adventure of her lifetime.

Somewhere along the way, she bought a camera; that was a turning point. She now works from her home studio, creating food stories for brands and magazines from all over the world. When she doesn’t make photographs, she is educating and motivating aspiring photographers through her online tutorials and in-person workshops. Bea’s book How to Photograph Food is now available for preorder.
