Edith Arance (Madrid, 1990) studied Art History at the Complutense University in Madrid. Her first area of interest and study was 20th-century Russia, its political shifts, and how avant-garde art went from being a pillar of social and political changes to being persecuted. Edith’s entry into the art and cultural management scene in Madrid was difficult. After a few years developing her career in other sectors, she returned to the field of culture. She studied areas of West Asia focusing primarily on the art, language, literature, and history of modern and contemporary Iran, allowing herself to be drawn to its depth, beauty, and contradictions. Her interest then shifted to other areas of the region, as well as to Africa. Arance has curated an exhibition at The Africa Center in New York City featuring the work of 12 Sudanese photographers, titled “Resistance in Memory: Visions of Sudan,” which opened on November 2025.
Mahnaz and Somayeh Ebrahimi present a vision of survival through art and visual poetry within a context of gender apartheid and extreme living conditions. Their photographs pay homage to Afghan women, transformed into almost mythological figures in a landscape of both hope and turmoil.
