Jaida Grey Eagle is an Oglala Lakota artist with a focus on photojournalism, producing, beadwork, and writing based in St. Paul, Minnesota. She researches Indigenous photography at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts as an ongoing former Curatorial Fellow and is a Report for America Fellow with the Sahan Journal covering communities of color within Minnesota.
Rooted is a series of images that uses cyanotype imaging of protests layered with plant silhouettes as an exploration of Indigenous identity—bearing witness while documenting the historic year the communities in Minnesota experienced in 2020.
