Syed Yaqeen, a Bangladeshi-born, Queens-raised photographer with over 15 years of experience, initially focused on editorials and fashion. In 2018, he diversified into documentary projects and nonprofit promotions. Projects included documenting an emergency medical team in Nepal and creating portraits for the “Muslims for American Progress” project by ISPU. Amid the COVID pandemic, Syed captured the humanitarian efforts of NYC nonprofits aiding vulnerable communities.
Syed’s editorial and portrait work resulted in a month-long solo exhibition at the NYPL Mulberry St, and recognition as one of NYC’s “Best 10 Editorial Photographers”. His portrait images have been exhibited at Rutgers University, Ford Performing Arts Center, and multiple publications.
His current focus revolves around exploring the nuances of Muslim communities in the USA.
