The pandemic has changed the way we live and interact, as well as the way we see people, places, and things. These portraits represent the community and reconstruction of society, along with isolation and reunion.

My name is Paxton Baudenbacher. I am 13 years old and was born and raised in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. In my free time, I like to play soccer and hangout with my friends. I take pictures of a variety of things, from inanimate objects to people. I find a sense of peace and serenity in my work because of its lonely feeling.

My name is Mikus Duerr. I live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and I am 14 years old. I like taking photos of many different things such as nature, landscapes, wildlife — things I see in my everyday life. I play soccer and I am also a boy scout. I enjoy playing video games, going to the gym, and airsofting.

My name is Loïc Franco. I was born in Toronto, live in Bedford-Stuyvesant, and I am 13 years old. I love photography, tennis, and hanging out with my friends after school. For photography, I like to do a variety of different types of portraits, like environmental or group portraits.

My name is Jonas Granger. I’m a pansexual trans girl and I’m 13 years old. I have lived in New York my whole life and love to take pictures, especially of people.

My name is Stevan Heredia. I’m 13 years old and I live in Brooklyn. I really like all forms of urban art, and I’m especially into graffiti right now. I also like sketching and cartooning. I enjoy skateboarding and exploring the city with my friends.

My name is Reina Landfield. I’m Japanese and I’m 13 years old. My size shoe is a men’s 6. I like to take photos of human features in light and shadow. I enjoy skateboarding and art.

My name is Nils Merget. I am a 13-year-old kid from Brooklyn. I enjoy taking film photos on my Minolta X-370s camera. I have been slowly switching over to digital photography, but I still mainly do film.

My name is Lois Rieben and I am 13 years old. I really enjoy art and photography. I’m fluent in French and I really enjoy traveling. When taking photos, I enjoy looking at everyday things in a different way. I enjoy capturing moments in photos.

    I.S. 318 is a public middle school located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It is known as an academy of arts and sciences. We are one of the few schools in New York City that has a full traditional photography lab and darkroom. We also have traditional fine arts, and an amazing performing arts department in dance and concert band.

    Founded in 2011 in Brooklyn, NY, Photoville was built on the principles of addressing cultural equity and inclusion, which we are always striving for, by ensuring that the artists we exhibit are diverse in gender, class, and race.
