Education talks at Photoville Festival 2022 were made possible in partnership with PhotoWings and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment
Our 2022 Photoville Education Day included field trips to our festival stomping grounds in Brooklyn Bridge Park, engaging conversations with professional artists, and a series of lively youth artist panel talks known as the Youth Artist Exchange, all tailored to middle and high school students.
Your students hear from local youth photographers, to learn how their peers tell visual stories, and how they can get involved themselves.
The Creative Youth Society provides creative career-based visual arts programming to underserved youth and aligned organizations within the New York City area. Youth participants are between the ages of 13-24, with a primary focus on youth dealing with adversities such as the justice system, homelessness, and foster care. While attending CYS workshops, participants can learn a number of creative skills such as photography, painting, digital art, furniture design, toy art, exhibition design, or lighting design. CYS has also partnered with various like-minded organizations such as the Queens Council on the Arts, the New York City Artist Corps, and NeOn Arts. The Creative Youth Society mission is to empower New York City youth to rise above adversity by teaching them creative skills, promoting future leadership within the creative industries.
