Faces of Us is a student project that delves into the power of portraits as a means to capture a unique moment and convey personal narratives. This student-led exhibition features a thoughtfully curated collection of portraits, some of which are accompanied by a text by the artist that sheds light on their journeys, perspectives, and identities and those of their subjects.
Each portrait and photo is crafted to depict not just the physical features of the subject but also to convey their emotions, expressions, and inner worlds. The project seeks to unveil the person, their vulnerabilities, strengths, and complexities, and reveal some of the stories that shape their lives.
For a couple of these photo projects students were invited to share their personal narratives with accompanying text in which they could express their thoughts, memories, and reflections. These narratives provide a powerful context for the portraits, giving viewers a deeper understanding of the subjects and their perspectives.
Faces of Us aims to highlight a variety of experiences and foster empathy and understanding among viewers. It encourages introspection and reflection on our own stories and the stories of others, celebrating the richness and complexity of the human spirit. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for the student photographers to showcase their artistic talents and their experiences and vision in a compelling and meaningful way.

Photoville
Founded in 2011 in Brooklyn, NY, Photoville was built on the principles of addressing cultural equity and inclusion, which we are always striving for, by ensuring that the artists we exhibit are diverse in gender, class, and race.
In pursuit of its mission, Photoville produces an annual, city-wide open air photography festival in New York City, a wide range of free educational community initiatives, and a nationwide program of public art exhibitions.
By activating public spaces, amplifying visual storytellers, and creating unique and highly innovative exhibition and programming environments, we join the cause of nurturing a new lens of representation.
Through creative partnerships with festivals, city agencies, and other nonprofit organizations, Photoville offers visual storytellers, educators, and students financial support, mentorship, and promotional & production resources, on a range of exhibition opportunities.
