Nacòx (Salmon) documents the relationship between the Nez Perce Tribe and the salmon of the Snake River, whose populations were decimated after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built a series of dams in the 1960s and ’70s. For the Nez Perce people, salmon are more than a vital food source—they are the very foundation of their creation story. Nacòx focuses on a community whose way of life is inseparable from the fish, and underscores their ongoing fight for treaty rights and tribal sovereignty.
